Treme: Shock Capitalism

The concept of ‘shock capitalism’ was created by Naomi Klein in an eponymous  book and is intended to demonstrate how the advent of a disaster, natural or  manmade, is increasingly used as a means to bring about social change, often  against the will of the victims of those who have been  most badly  affected. This concept is demonstrated in various episodes of the television  series Treme, particularly in the second series in the person of Nelson Hidalgo.
