What Is Taylorism?

Taylorism is a form of management, also known as ‘scientific management,’ that was first systematized by the American engineer Frederick Winslow Taylor (1956-1915). Taylor’s big idea was that it was possible to increase labour productivity by the scientific and systematic study of every movement of an individual at the workplace with a view to maximizing efficiency of movement and, hence, increases in production power.
