This plant has blossomed for the first time in several years – apparently, many of the plants across Bangkok (and probably further afield) have blossomed at the same time. This is widely regarded as a good omen of some kind and people are looking forward to some good luck.
Although the flowers are not very spectacular, they are certainly very fragrant and out house is full of the perfume. Pungent, some might call it. Based on the flowers, I’m not sure they will last much longer so it seemed to be a good time to post this photo, which I took this morning.
I am informed that the plant or at least its smell acts to reduce sexual desire and, therefore, it is very popular in monasteries.
