Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change

If I seem to have been unproductive recently, that is partly due to having been busy with some more encyclopedia articles. I recently completed the following:

Walsh, John, “Atmospheric Component of Models,” “Atmospheric General Circulation Models,” “Climate Models,” “Climatic Data, Nature of the Data,” “Cyclones,” “Department of the Interior, US,” “Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS),” Ice Component of Models,” “Intensity Targets,” “Land Component of Models,” “Marrakesh Accords,” “Oil, Consumption of,” “Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD),” “Rain,” “Resources” and “Technology,” in Philander, George S. and Geoffrey J. Golson eds., second edition, Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, forthcoming).

Some of these are just the same article from the first edition, a couple of others have been updated with recent research but about eight were all new articles. The longest new article was 2,000 words, as I recall, with none less than 1,000. So, it all takes some time.

Encyclopedia Articles

I have been a little quiet over the last couple of months, to some extent because I have been trying to keep the wolf from the door writing encyclopedia articles (and also some translation work). Recently, I have completed these:

Walsh, John, “Archaeology 3,” “Birth Control in China,” “British Plantations,” “Bureaucracy,” “Chou En-lai,” “Communism and Maoism,” “Corruption 3,” “Cultural Revolution,” “Dance 2,” “Dutch Plantations,” “Economy 2,” “European Economic Impact 3,” “Family Life and Structure 7,” “Family Life and Structure 8,” “Family Life and Structure 9,” “Feudalism, Asian,” “Forced Labor/Corvée,” “French Plantations,” “Imperial Rule,” “Internal Migration,” “Japanaese Emperors and Shoguns,” “Kim Regime (North Korea),” “Modernity 2,” “Mongol Wars,” “Nationalism 3,” “Peasants 1,” “Poverty 2,” “Sexuality 2,” “Shang Dynasty,” “Taiwan,” “Taoism,” “Three Sovereigns/Five Emperors,” “Westernization,” “Women 7,” “Women 8,” “Xia Dynasty 1,” “Xin Dynasty 2,” “Zhou, Eastern” and “Zhou, Western,” in Rogers, Lisbeth and Susan Moskowitz, eds., Cultural Sociology of the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, nine volumes (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, forthcoming).

Walsh, John, “Outside the Box: Understanding Foreign Cultures,” “Snow Leopards Commando Unit” and “VAT/UT69” in Shanty, Frank, Counterterrorism: From the Cold War to the War on Terror (Santa Barbra, CA: ABC-Clio, forthcoming).

Walsh, John, “Corruption, Contemporary,” “Corruption, Sociology,” “Private Detectives,” “Private Police,” “Robbery, History of,” “Robbery, Sociology of,” “Strikes,” “Tax Crimes,” “Traffic Crimes (automoblile)” and “Victimless Crimes” in Wilbur Redington Miller and Geoffrey J Golson, eds. The Social History of Crime and Punishment in America (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, forthcoming).

Without accurate counting, I think that amounts to more than 30,000 published words (if all the entries are actually used). Additionally, I have agreed to write some more articles for these and a couple of other books – so I am not (alas) being completely idle and having champagne and caviar fed to me via intravenous drip.
