The sociologist Jan Nederveen Pieterse has argued in the paper ‘Globalisation as Hybridisation’ that the concept of globalization simply being a process of homogenization in which modernity is used as a wedge to drive home western concepts on unwilling societies is an inadequate concept in many perspectives.
