I vividly recall watching the film The Incredible Shrinking Man as a young boy more years ago than I care to admit–the central scene of the eponymous and diminutive hero fighting and besting the horrible spider with a needle have stuck in my mind since then and, indeed, other scenes have also stayed with me (I could say the same thing for the original version of The Fly, which was I think shown on television the following week).
