Prabhassorn Sevikul won the 2007 Thailand National Book Award for this slender book of short stories and, reading them, it is not hard to see why this should be. The stories seem to conform to exactly the kind of story that is characteristic of contemporary award-winning Thai fiction – and to some extent, of the literature of other parts of Southeast Asia.
